DSP Application Field

DSP is a type of microprocessor that has extremely high processing speed, as the application of this type of processor requires high real-time performance (Real Time). For example, if a call is made through a mobile phone, if the processing speed is not fast, the other party can only wait for the other party to stop speaking before making the call. If both parties are talking at the same time, due to insufficient digital signal processing speed, the signal connection can only be closed

Before the emergence of DSP, digital signal processing could only be completed using an MPU (microprocessor). However, the lower processing speed of MPU cannot meet the requirements of high-speed real-time. Therefore, it was not until the 1970s that the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of DSP were proposed. At that time, DSP only remained in textbooks, and even developed DSP systems were composed of discrete components, with their application fields limited to military and aerospace departments.

In the 1990s, DSP developed the fastest, with the emergence of fourth and fifth generation DSP devices. DSP belongs to the fifth generation product, which has a higher system integration compared to the fourth generation. It integrates the DSP core and peripheral components on a single chip. This highly integrated DSP chip not only showcases its skills in communication and computer fields, but also gradually penetrates into people's daily consumption fields.
