• The TPS54331DR is a voltage regulator made by Texas Instruments. It's designed to efficiently convert higher voltages (up to 28 volts) to lower ones (down to 0.8 volts) for electronic devices. Because it consumes extremely little power when not in use, it's ideal for devices like battery-operated devices. In addition, it requires a few additional parts and is simple to operate. • The TPS54331 device ensures safety by using current mode control. It turns off the high-side MOSFET when the COMP pin voltage intersects with the peak inductor current, preventing overcurrent situations. It also has internal protection on the COMP pin to limit output current during overcurrent conditions. For short-circuit scenarios, it adjusts the switching frequency by increasing the off time. This prevents overcurrent runaway.

• Additionally, it includes an overvoltage transient protection (OVTP) circuit. This circuit minimizes output voltage overshoot during fault recovery or strong unload transients. It monitors the VSENSE pin voltage and forces off the high-side MOSFET when the voltage exceeds 109% × VREF. It enables it again when it falls below 107% × VREF.
